Buses from Bangkok to Chumphon

There are several buses to Chumphon from Bangkok’s Southern bus terminal, based in the Thonburi district. Depending on traffic, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to reach the bus terminal from the city center. The bus station is comfortable (with air conditioners) and has destination boards and timetables in English language.

There are two public bus stations in Chumphon. The main bus station (Southern Terminal) is based on Surat Thani Road, nearly 7 miles away from the town, and another one is based within the town. Typically, buses coming from Bangkok stop at the main bus station. From here, you can take a silver-colored minibus to reach your destination in the town.

During morning-afternoon, Bangkog-Chumphon buses are available between 9 AM and 2 PM at departure frequencies of 2 to 3 hours. And in the evening, we have 10 buses between 8 PM and 10 PM at an hourly frequency.

A typical bus journey from Bangkok to Chumphon lasts between 6.5 to 8.5 hours.

About Chumphon

Chumphon is one of the few places that has managed to preserve its natural beauty and has not been affected so much by mass tourism.

Things to do in Chumphon

Chumphon is an excellent place for water sports like fishing, snorkeling, canoeing, yachting, diving, and white-water rafting. The Wet Cats Center, based in north of Chumphon, is an excellent destination for diving and snorkeling. People also take joy in activities like sunbathing, paragliding, and night squid fishing.

People can also engage in outdoor sports like hiking, bird-watching, and jungle trekking. Koh Tao, the small island famous for its sea turtles, is easily accessible from Chumphon (a 20-minute boat trip from Yang Pier, which is based within 10 kilometers from the town).

Another famous attraction in Chumphon is the Mu Ko Chumphon National Park which is an excellent choice for nature trails.

Chumphon’s national museum is another major attraction; this 15-year old museum provides a full historic overview of the Chumphon province.
